Nancy Reagan Hospitalized with Broken Pelvis

Former first lady Nancy Reagan has been hospitalized in Los Angeles with a broken pelvis, the Associated Press reports. Reagan, 87, fell at her Bel Air home last week and, after the pain persisted, decided on Monday to be examined at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, according to her spokesperson, Joanne Drake. Saying Reagan "is in very good spirits" despite some pain, Drake added that no surgery would be required. Reagan is undergoing physical therapy. It is not known how long she will remain in the hospital. In June 2005, Reagan was briefly hospitalized after falling in her London hotel room

Another case of an ailing celebrity senior citizen at the mercy of squabbling children is heading for headlines. In the '50s comedian Alan Young won an Emmy for "The Alan Young Show." In the '60s he starred in the CBS-tv series about a talking horse, "Mister Ed." In the '80s he divorced his wife of 43 years and a dozen years ago married his one-time Sunday school pupil.
He isn't running hot financially. When last we spoke, he told me: "I own a percentage of the 'Mister Ed' profits but it's an impossible situation. Three producers were co-owners.

Plans to film scenes of From Paris With Love in Les Bosquets, a tough housing project north of Paris, were dropped Tuesday after 10 cars being used for the movie in stunt sequences were torched, the producers said Tuesday.
